Job summary

Specialty Building Products is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payroll across multiple states. You will handle weekly and bi-weekly processing for hourly and salaried staff, maintain records, and work with HR on personnel changes while ensuring compliance with wage laws and tax requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of payroll processing experience for hourly and salaried employees preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll best practices.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with UKG is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states with accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Calculate overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay with precision and fairness.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions.
• Review payroll registers and reports for accuracy; research and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Partner with HR on new hires, terminations, pay changes, timekeeping, and benefits updates to ensure a smooth employee experience.
• Serve as a trusted resource for employees, responding to inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll policies with clarity and care.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and assist with internal and external audits.
• Uphold strict confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information at all times.
