Job summary

USIC is seeking a Sr. Payroll Specialist in Indianapolis, hybrid schedule with 2 days WFH. You will be the primary payroll processor ensuring accurate USIC payroll and collaborating with HR Administration and HR Systems. You’ll drive continuous improvement across payroll operations and teammate experience.

The role requires 3+ years of payroll processing, multistate expertise, and advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication and confidentiality are essential as part of a dynamic payroll team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent payroll experience) preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience with payroll processing required.
• Proficient knowledge of payroll in a multistate environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with confidentiality.
• Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly multistate payroll using Workday.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for payroll processing.
• Audit and batch input payroll adjustments, out of sequence payrolls, and off cycle payroll runs.
• Address, communicate, or escape payroll impacting issues.
• Triage ZenDesk tickets to ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain data quality of Payroll system and integrate with HR Systems/Workday.
• Prepare payroll processing audits and reports for Internal Controls.
• Execute Quarter- and Year-End adjustments.
• Serve as backup for Payroll Supervisor.
