Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage high-volume, multi-state payrolls for U.S. employees. You will ensure accurate processing via ADP Workforce Now, maintain data integrity, and support year-end activities while collaborating with HR and Finance.

The role requires 5–7 years’ payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and SOX/FLSA knowledge. This is a full-time position based in Huntington Beach, CA, with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive U.S. payroll experience in multi-state, high-volume environments.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
• Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
• Strong knowledge of FLSA compliance and payroll taxes.
• Experience handling high-volume payrolls accurately and on time.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; strong reconciliation abilities.
• Garnishment processing experience and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Processes weekly or bi-weekly multi-state payrolls using ADP Workforce Now.
• Manages complex payroll transactions including bonuses, retroactive adjustments, off-cycle checks, garnishments, and tax levies.
• Partners with HR to validate employee data affecting payroll.
• Reconciles payroll prior to transmission for accuracy and completeness.
• Produces payroll reports for Finance, audits, and stakeholders.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations, including FLSA.
• Supports year-end payroll activities such as Forms W-2 and W-2c.
• Investigates discrepancies and implements corrective actions.
• Maintains system data integrity and supports process improvements and special projects.
