  • Review payroll records for FLSA and labor law compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR, employees, and project managers to resolve payroll issues.
  • Manage wage garnishments and timely payments to agencies.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and authorities.
  • Provide excellent service regarding pay, benefits, and tax withholding.
  • Generate ad-hoc payroll reports and validate data for stakeholders.
  • Handle special projects as directed by management.

Job description

Accentuate Staffing is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing across multiple standalone locations for one of our clients. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of payroll, including timekeeping, accrual management, garnishments, and tax compliance. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with HR, employees, and external agencies to ensure accurate payroll processing and timely compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive payroll data.

Responsibilities:
  • Process multi-state, multi-EIN payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Collect and input timekeeping data from various sources into the ADP time and attendance portal.
  • Administer termination payouts, including compliance with state-specific regulations, such as those for California employees.
  • Review payroll records to ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other labor laws.
  • Collaborate with HR, employees, and Project Managers to resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.
  • Manage wage garnishments, submitting payments to agencies and benefit coordinators within required deadlines.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, taxing authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting employees with pay, benefits, and tax withholding issues.
  • Generate ad-hoc payroll reports and validate data accuracy for business partners and stakeholders.
  • Handle special projects and other assignments as directed by management.
Requirements:
  • ADP Workforce Now Expertise: Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with ADP, including time and attendance modules.
  • Benefits Administration: At least 2 years of experience with benefits contributions, including health, pension, and 401(k).
  • Payroll Compliance & Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of multi-state payroll taxes, garnishments, and statutory deductions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn new payroll or financial software.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven ability to ensure accurate data entry, reconciliation, and problem resolution.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive payroll information with the highest level of confidentiality.
