Job summary

Leoforce in Oakland, CA is seeking a dynamic Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across the organization. The role requires senior-level expertise in wage and hour compliance, tax reporting, and payroll systems, with responsibility for accuracy and regulatory adherence.

You will oversee updates for new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and timesheets, work closely with HR and accounting, and mentor a payroll team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in engineering/construction.
• Demonstrated experience with timesheet management and payroll implementation.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll processes, including taxes, balancing, internal controls.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal payroll regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and payroll software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team development abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll operations including wage-hour compliance, tax reporting, and systems maintenance.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Implement and maintain payroll best practices and consult with senior management to improve payroll/HRIS systems.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll queries.
• Collaborate with HR and accounting teams.
• Manage and oversee processing of timesheets for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct audits of payroll records to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Stay current with payroll processing technologies and trends.
• Train and support team members in payroll-related systems and processes.
