Payroll Manager - $55.29+/hr
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead and optimize our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive payroll management experience, including hands-on expertise with UKG , a strong understanding of California labor laws (knowledge of Hawaii and Oregon employment laws is a plus), and a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
This role will oversee a team of three or more payroll professionals and be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. The Payroll Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in payroll, tax compliance, auditing, general ledger reconciliations, reporting, and process improvement. The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset and a demonstrated track record of identifying workflow inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and optimizing operational performance.
The ideal candidate is compliance-focused, highly organized, and able to think outside the box when solving complex payroll challenges. They will build strong partnerships across departments, particularly with Accounting and Finance, and serve as a mentor and coach to team members. This position requires someone who can assess current processes, recommend improvements, strengthen internal controls, and drive efficiencies while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
This is a hybrid position requiring the ability to work two days onsite and three days remotely. Candidates must have exceptional attention to detail, strong reporting and analytical skills, and a passion for continuous improvement and team development.
