Job summary

Propel Recruitment LLC partners with a California healthcare organization to hire an experienced Payroll Manager. The role is primarily remote with periodic in-person leadership meetings in Alameda County, CA.

You will own payroll operations, timekeeping, and scheduling, coordinating with HR, Finance, and shared services, while ensuring compliance and process improvement. Candidates must reside in California and have 5+ years in payroll, with Workday/ADP experience and knowledge of California

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll and workforce management experience.
• Strong knowledge of California wage-and-hour laws and tax compliance.
• Experience with multi-location healthcare payroll highly preferred.
• Experience with Workday or ADP payroll platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle payroll operations across multiple entities and timekeeping.
• Ensure accurate processing of pay, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and garnishments.
• Oversee timekeeping and scheduling systems and ensure timely approvals.
• Lead system implementations, testing, and process improvements.
• Develop reporting and workforce metrics for leadership decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
