Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP seeks a Payroll professional to support multistate engagements, ensuring compliance across federal, state, and local requirements. This role is mostly remote with in-person collaboration near Baker Tilly offices as needed.

You will analyze payroll data, assist with setup, tax forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C), and partner with clients and internal teams to deliver timely, accurate work.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience, ideally within a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in-house payroll function.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may substitute for education.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
• CPP certification strongly preferred (or in progress).

Responsibilities

• Support payroll engagements across a range of clients, industries, and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
