Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a payroll consultant to support client engagements across multiple industries. You will help assess and improve payroll processes, ensure compliance across federal, state, and local regulations, and handle tax forms and payroll setups.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teams, accurate data analysis, and timely delivery, with most work conducted remotely and occasional engagement near Baker Tilly offices. Strong CPP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience, ideally in a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in-house payroll function.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
• Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Paycom, Paycor, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across a range of clients, industries, and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
