Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a payroll consultant to support client engagements from various industries. This role emphasizes multistate compliance, payroll process improvements, and accurate payroll tax administration.

You will collaborate with teams to ensure timely delivery, apply current regulations, and communicate complex payroll concepts to clients and teammates. Mostly remote with office coverage within required states.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience, ideally in consulting, payroll provider, or corporate payroll.
• Strong knowledge of multistate payroll regulations and compliance.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
• CPP certification strongly preferred or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across a range of clients, industries and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support reviews related to employee classification, wage treatment, and overtime calculations.
• Research and apply payroll regulations, including reciprocity and other multistate considerations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work.
• Communicate payroll concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
