Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst for Payments Risk Operations. You will own escalations for high-dollar losses and complex cases, using deep knowledge of fraud workflows and AI-assisted tools to drive risk decisions with evidence-backed outcomes.

You will partner with Risk Modeling, Fraud Detection, and Analytics to evolve controls, models, and policies while maintaining strong human oversight and clear communication with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in payments risk, fraud operations, or fraud investigations with escalation authority.
• Deep understanding of ACH, cards, wires, and crypto rails with proven risk controls improvements.
• Proficiency in SQL and tracing funds on-chain using blockchain analytics tools.
• Experience reviewing analyst decisions for quality and SOP adherence; able to explain complex risk decisions to diverse stakeholders.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own escalations from Payments Risk Operations and partner teams, including high-dollar losses and suspected fraud rings.
• Lead the response to emerging fraud patterns from first detection through root cause analysis and remediation.
• Maintain expert knowledge of review workflows, SOPs, and risk controls, updating them as products/threats evolve.
• Drive rule and model performance measurement in partnership with Risk Modeling and Analytics; tune controls to reduce losses with minimal customer friction.
• Present findings and recommendations to Risk leadership and cross-functional partners; coach analysts to improve accuracy.
