Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to join Payments Risk Operations. You will serve as the escalation point for the most complex risk cases across deposits, withdrawals, trading, and other flagged activity, making final calls backed by evidence.

You will work AI-native from day one, using AI tools to accelerate investigations while maintaining strict evidentiary standards. You will partner with Risk Modeling, Fraud Detection, and Analytics to improve controls, rules, and models.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in payments risk or fraud investigations.
• Experience escalating complex cases with decision authority.
• Deep knowledge of ACH, cards, wires, and crypto rails.
• Ability to communicate risk decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Uses generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own escalations from Payments Risk Operations and partner teams, including high-dollar losses and suspected fraud, making final decisions with clear evidence.
• Lead the response to emerging fraud patterns from first detection through root cause analysis and remediation.
• Maintain expert knowledge of review workflows, SOPs, and risk controls as products and threats evolve.
• Drive rule and model performance in partnership with Risk Modeling and Analytics, tuning controls to reduce losses with minimal customer friction.
• Present findings and recommendations to Risk leadership and cross-functional partners, coaching analysts to improve accuracy.
