Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments Platform to design and build scalable backend services that power our global money movements. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance payment systems used by guests and hosts worldwide.

You have 5+ years in software engineering, 1+ years in Payments/Fintech, and a proven track record leading technical initiatives.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
1+ years in Payments/Fintech backend engineering is a plus.
Experience leading design, implementation, and deployment of high-scale payment systems.
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in CS or equivalent.
Technical leadership with mentoring and setting technical direction.
Strong focus on efficiency, availability, quality, and system reliability.
Ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

Work on multi-team initiatives across engineering to identify opportunities and prioritize requirements.
Architect and implement complex features with data-driven decisions and performance optimizations.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to advance Airbnb’s engineering processes and foundations.
Drive systemic improvements to reduce toil and improve quality and operations.
Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
