Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an Engineering Manager for Payments to lead one or more engineering teams responsible for critical payments systems. You will set priorities, nurture a high-performing culture, and partner with product, design, data science, and finance to deliver trusted payment experiences at global scale.

You will shape roadmaps, balance short-term needs with long-term platform health, and mentor engineers to grow impact across platforms while upholding operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of hands-on experience managing an engineering team.
• 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Strong expertise in building large-scale backend systems and experience in user-facing features.
• Strong product and design instinct with experience delivering well-designed experiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional partners.
• Flexible leadership style adaptable to different working methods.
• Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with high business impact.
• Commitment to operational excellence, quality, reliability, and availability.
