Job summary

Airbnb Payments is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable risk services for the global payments platform. You will work with data scientists, product managers and operations teams to detect and mitigate fraud across 191 countries and 75 currencies.

As part of the Payments Risk Engineering team, you will own end-to-end risk solutions, collaborate across XFN teams, and help maintain a highly available, real-time risk infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Payments/Fintech as a backend engineer.
• Proficient in Java, Kotlin or Python; React knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with high-scale web applications, APIs and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable risk services for the payments platform.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product, and operations teams.
• Integrate with third-party payment networks and processors.
• Develop and evolve risk detection and mitigation strategies.
• Maintain strong testing, monitoring and observability of risk systems.
