Job summary

Payabli is seeking a senior Payments Core IC to own the reliability and correctness of large-scale money movement across rails and reconciliation. You will define architecture, API contracts, and multi-rail orchestration, partnering with CTO on interim leadership as the org forms around you.

You will drive exact-once payment flows, build robust observability, and set high engineering standards. This is a founding role with high impact on platform reliability and growth.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building production payments or financial systems.
• Direct experience designing or operating a double-entry ledger in production.
• Experience building idempotent, exactly-once payment flows in real-time.
• Exposure to multi-rail money movement (ACH, wire, RTP/FedNow, card networks).
• Strong focus on reliability, observability, and scalable architecture.

Responsibilities

• Guarantee correctness at scale for payments to execute exactly once.
• Set the API contract for internal/external use and versioning.
• Direct money-movement architecture across rails and banks.
• Own batching, funding, and reconciliation processes.
• Build reliability and observability from day one with RFCs and monitoring.
• Set hiring criteria and engineering standards for the team.
