Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Payments Experience, owning the end-to-end payments workflow for employers, employees, and contractors.

You will build AI‑first, performant experiences, platformize payments into reusable capabilities, shape the strategy, and drive global, reliable, scalable payment systems.

This role collaborates across Money Movement, Tax, Contractor, and Global Payroll teams to launch new fintech products and ensure high availability.

Qualifications

• AI mindset for payments UX and automation
• Experience leading 10+ engineers in high-scale distributed systems
• Track record building shared platforms, APIs, or foundational capabilities
• Strong product sense balancing technical excellence with user experience
• Architectural leadership for complex, highly available systems
• Experience turning complex workflows into intuitive, performant product experiences
• Operational rigor for reliability, observability and resilience
• Experience in payments, fintech, payroll, or related domains preferred
• Cross-functional leadership with Product, Design, and other engineering teams
• Comfort leading distributed teams across time zones and geographies

Responsibilities

• Own the Payments experience across execution readiness, status, recovery, and user-facing resolution.
• Build AI-first experiences to surface anomalies, explain outcomes, and anticipate issues.
• Platformize and unify payments across Rippling via reusable capabilities and APIs.
• Define roadmaps for Payments Experience and the broader payments platform.
• Shape architecture and operating model separating shared capabilities from product logic.
• Deliver fast, intuitive, and globally scalable payment experiences.
• Lead the future of contractor payments with wallets and modern payout methods.
• Operate at global scale with high reliability and observability across systems.
