Job summary

Xsolla is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Payments to design, build, and maintain core components of our payment processing platform, spanning credit card acquiring and APMs. You will own critical payment flows from real-time authorization through settlement, reconciliation, and wallet/BNPL integrations, collaborating with Product, Finance, and Risk.

This role suits engineers who thrive in high-stakes financial systems and care deeply about data integrity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with PHP and Go
• 2+ years working on production payment processing systems
• Experience integrating with or building against APM providers
• Knowledge of card networks, interchange, BIN logic, MCC codes, AVS, CVV, and 3DS/SCA
• Understanding of distributed systems including idempotency and high availability
• RESTful and/or event-driven APIs in payments context
• Familiarity with PCI DSS and payment data security fundamentals
• Strong debugging and incident response skills in high-volume financial systems

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant services for real-time card processing and settlement workflows
• Build and maintain integrations with acquiring banks, card networks, payment gateways, fraud providers, and tokenization services
• Ensure idempotency and correct state management across the card payment lifecycle
• Support 3D Secure (3DS2) and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) flows
• Design and maintain APM integrations (wallets, BNPL, bank transfers, local methods)
• Build reconciliation pipelines for card and APM rails; surface mismatches and leakage risks
• Develop payment reporting, monitoring, and alerting for key metrics and anomalies
• Ensure PCI DSS compliance and secure handling of payment data
• Contribute to on-call rotations and incident response for payment-critical systems
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices
