Job summary

Sunward in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Payment Specialist 1 to process payments, handle ACH and wire transfers, and support the Payments Systems Team. You will exercise judgment on exceptions and deliver excellent service to members, while minimizing losses for the credit union.

This role requires at least one year of experience in payments or banking, solid attention to detail, and the ability to learn in-house software. High school diploma or GED is required; AAP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year in a payment systems role or similar financial services experience.
• Detail-oriented with audit-like accuracy and compliance awareness.
• Familiarity with banking regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process originations for posting to retail member accounts.
• Analyze and troubleshoot ACH and wire files processed through FedLine Advantage.
• Identify and recommend actions for item processing exceptions to minimize losses.
• Monitor activities to detect fraud or account abuse and take appropriate action.
• Explain transaction activity to members and handle inquiries professionally.
• Assist with multiple Payment Systems Team support functions as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with core values and security policies.
• Promote products/services and refer members to the appropriate department.
