Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a patient access professional to greet, instruct, direct and schedule patients and visitors. You will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, verify insurance benefits, assist with referrals and collect payments at the point of service.

You will maintain accurate patient information, answer phones, schedule appointments, handle front-end duties, and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Some college coursework preferred.
• Knowledge of managed care preferred.
• Experience in a health care setting is beneficial.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets, instructs, directs and schedules patients and visitors.
• Verifies insurance benefits and assists with referrals.
• Collects payments and prepares cash for deposits.
• Maintains flow of patient check-in and enters data into the computer database.
• Answers phones, takes messages and assists with inquiries.
• Schedules appointments in accordance with physician guidelines.
• Performs front-end duties and supports clean claims.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Follows CHRISTUS Health policies and service standards.
• Performs other related work as assigned by leadership.
