Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to facilitate welcoming, accurate scheduling and patient registration. You will verify insurance, collect estimated patient portions, and perform financial assessments while maintaining compliance and confidentiality.

The role requires effective communication, dependability, and teamwork, with multiple shifts available to support hospital operations across the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Accurately inputs all required data elements for scheduling and registration, including patient demographic, financial information, guarantor info, and notes.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains necessary authorizations for services.
• Calculates and collects the estimated patient portion based on benefits and contract reimbursement as well as prior balances.
• Performs financial assessment for appropriate program assistance.
• Obtains patient/legal guardian signatures on hospital documents as needed.
• Represents the Patient Access department in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
• Supports department during internal or external disasters and fluctuating patient volumes.
• Maintains compliance with policies, procedures and standards set by regulatory entities.
• Performs duties with confidentiality of patient information and completes required training.
• Works with HPWT to maintain an efficient, clean, and orderly workplace using 5S principles.
• Coordinates, communicates, and monitors workflow to manage fluctuating volumes.
• Provides feedback to help identify educational or mediation needs.
• Adapts assessments and services to the needs of patients, including population-specific considerations.
• Takes responsibility to ensure compliance with all policies and standards.
