Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative at the Dallas clinic (8196 Walnut Hill #100) to educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits. The role supports the Breast Surgery Department, with a Mon-Fri schedule from 8:00a to 4:30p, in a collaborative clinic environment.

The successful candidate will handle pre-services coordination, eligibility updates, and financial assistance navigation while adhering to HIPAA and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding applications.
  • Excellent verbal communication and accurate terminology usage.
  • Completion of required e-learning courses within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain insurance coverage information and demographics prior to treatment; educate patient on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess patient ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; may educate on financial assistance programs.
  • Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward to billing office.
  • Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to each treatment.
  • Review patient account balance and coordinate with front desk for collections.
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the system at each visit.
