Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to support the Oncology Department at our Denton clinic. This full-time role educates patients on insurance coverage, verifies benefits, and assists with financial aid.

Under supervision, you will gather patient demographics, obtain pre-authorization codes, review balances, and coordinate with billing. Strong communication and computer skills are required; familiarity with CPT/HCPCS is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in pre-services coordination or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding.
• Clear verbal communication; use proper terminology.
• Complete required e-learning courses within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance coverage information and educate patients on benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and expenses.
• Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss financial assistance options.
• Complete reimbursement forms and forward to billing; maintain eligibility data.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes prior to treatment.
• Review patient balances and notify front desk for payment arrangements.
• Verify demographics and coverage at each visit per SOP.
• Develop relationships with financial aid providers and seek leads.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and related guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
