Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to support the Oncology Department at the Denton clinic. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00a–4:30p, with duties in insurance education and patient cost coordination.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, 3+ years in patient pre-services, and knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office. HIPAA compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum three years as a patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding.
  • Clear verbal communication and correct terminology.
  • Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess financial ability and discuss payment arrangements; assist with forms and financial aid.
  • Complete reimbursement and liability forms; forward to billing office.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to treatment.
  • Review patient account balance and notify front desk to meet with patients.
  • Ensure patient co-pays are entered correctly in the system and collected.
  • Verify and update demographics and insurance per SOPs.
  • Stay updated on financial aide options and network with providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and company policies.
  • Update manuals, logs, and forms; perform additional duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
