Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to lead the design of overhead transmission projects for high-voltage applications. You will serve as SME, provide technical guidance, and act as Engineer of Record when required, delivering drawings, specs, and analyses for 69kV–500kV lines.

You will mentor engineers, review complex calculations, and collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure project success, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil or related field) from an ABET-accredited school.
• 15+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design.
• PE license required.
• Proficiency with MS Office, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Extensive knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI, RUS, IEC, IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in transmission line design and construction practices.
• Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for drawings, calculations, and reports.
• Act as Engineer of Record for required deliverables.
• Design overhead transmission lines across 69kV–500kV.
• Perform structural analysis and foundation design.
• Prepare and review technical specifications and drawings.
• Conduct engineering analyses and simulations for line design.
• Mentor and train junior engineers.
• Review work by others for accuracy and compliance.
• Support project team during construction and commissioning.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical support.
