Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Outpatient Coder to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding for day surgery and observation encounters based on documentation in the EMR, while complying with regulatory guidelines. The role requires three years of outpatient coding experience or completion of the Senior Outpatient Coder Transition Program, plus AHIMA or equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

• Associate's or higher degree in an AHIMA-accredited program or equivalent experience.
• Three years of outpatient coding experience or completion of the Senior Outpatient Coder Transition Program.
• Proficiency with AHIMA coding guidelines and CPT/ ICD-10 coding.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for day surgery and observation encounters.
• Query physicians when diagnoses or procedures require clarification using the physician query process.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policy and regulatory guidelines.
