Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Optomechanical Engineer to support the Electro-Optics Group within Launch Vehicles in Chandler, AZ. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Optical Engineering or Physics from an accredited university.
• Active Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Experience with opto-mechanical or precision electro-mechanical design and integration.
• Familiarity with STOP and SILOS analysis methods and their impact on optical performance.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CREO/NX/SolidWorks).
• Experience with optical imaging systems (visible through LWIR) and component mounting/alignment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mechanical design of optical assemblies, mounts, and structures for imaging and sensing systems.
• Perform STOP and SILOS analyses to ensure performance under environmental and operational conditions.
• Develop parametric 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, with documentation.
• Collaborate with optical, systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to refine requirements and ensure producibility.
• Support environmental test planning, execution, and correlate analyses with test results.
