Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Optomechanical Engineer - 2 in Chandler, AZ, to support the Electro-Optics Group within Launch Vehicles. You will design, analyze, and test optical assemblies and structures for flight hardware.

You will perform STOP/SILOS analyses, develop parametric 3D CAD models, and work with diverse engineering teams to ensure producibility and reliability under demanding conditions. Security clearance and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline from an accredited university.
• Master’s degree in Optical/Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred.
• 2 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 0 years experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mechanical design of optical assemblies, mounts, and structures.
• Perform STOP and SILOS analyses to ensure performance under environmental conditions.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings with documentation.
• Collaborate with optical, systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to refine requirements.
• Support environmental testing planning, execution, and correlation with analysis.
