Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to design, test, and deliver EO/IR and laser system capabilities for airborne and ground platforms. This onsite role supports development from concept through integration and qualification.

You will use CodeV, Zemax, and CREO to analyze tolerances, perform performance modeling, and collaborate with suppliers. A STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, plus US Government clearance, are required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years' experience.
• Experience with optical design and analysis software and developing macros/scripts.
• Experience with EO/IR/laser integration, testing, and laser characterization.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and deliver capabilities for EO/IR and high energy laser systems.
• Apply optical design, tolerancing, and performance analysis to new capabilities.
• Create optical drawings and collaborate with vendors for components.
• Occasionally manage small to moderate projects, including planning and communication.
