Job summary

Accenture is seeking a Senior Ontologist and Knowledge Architecture Lead to own the design, governance, and delivery of enterprise knowledge graph initiatives. You will define semantic modeling strategy, ontology governance, and lead a cross-functional team spanning business, data engineering, and AI/ML.

This hybrid role requires deep expertise in OWL, RDF, SKOS, and enterprise data governance, with a track record of delivering production‑grade ontologies in large organizations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years hands-on experience in ontology engineering or a closely related semantic web discipline.
• Minimum 12 years owning and delivering production-grade domain ontologies in complex enterprise environments.
• Minimum 12 years experience in a lead/architect role with responsibility for technical standards, team development, and roadmap ownership.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or PhD) in Information Science, CS, Library Science, Linguistics, Philosophy, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ontology lifecycle: requirements gathering, conceptual modeling, formal specification (OWL 2, RDFS, SKOS), validation, deployment, and stewardship.
• Define enterprise ontology architecture: modular design patterns, URI strategy, versioning policy, alignment with upper ontologies (e.g., BFO, DOLCE, schema.org).
• Lead alignment between domain ontologies and enterprise-wide semantic assets.
• Partner with NLP/AI teams to develop ontology-guided pipelines for information extraction from unstructured sources.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ontologists and semantic analysts; manage delivery timelines and roadmaps.

Education

Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or PhD) in Information Science, Computer Science, Library Science, Linguistics, Philosophy, or a related field.
