Job summary

US Oncology Inc. is seeking a Scheduler to join the Texas Oncology team at the Pearland location. This full-time role supports scheduling patient appointments and tests, handling calls, and liaising between patients and medical staff.

Opportunities exist at Level I, II, or Senior depending on experience. The Scheduler will handle outpatient and possibly surgical scheduling, with adherence to compliance and coding standards, and will contribute to front-office efficiency in a busy oncology

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 0-3 years’ experience preferably in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is a plus.
• Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients in the EMR system.
• Cancels/reschedules appointments per physician schedule changes and notifies clinic personnel.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorizations and referrals in patient charts.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket amounts at time of visit.
• Maintains primary office scheduling templates and coordinates physician meetings, satellite schedule and call coverage.
