Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or a related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services.
• Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or a related field and the equivalent of five (5) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services.
• High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of seven (7) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily billing operations for complex oncology and specialty services
• Monitor work queues, claim quality, and team productivity to ensure timely claim submission and follow-up
• Support staff performance, workflow management, and operational efficiency
• Review high-dollar and high-complexity accounts to identify reimbursement risks and resolution strategies
• Guide the resolution of complicated billing issues involving authorizations, medical necessity requirements, payer policies, and reimbursement disputes
• Lead escalations and appeals for high-value denied or underpaid claims
• Partner with coding, clinical, patient access, utilization review, managed care, and other operational teams to improve processes and resolve barriers
• Help prevent denials by ensuring billing practices align with payer requirements and regulatory guidelines
• Analyze trends and prepare reports on productivity, denial performance, claim quality, and operational metrics
• Support internal audits, compliance initiatives, and revenue integrity efforts
• Assist patients and payers with billing inquiries while promoting a positive customer experience
• Provide ongoing coaching, education, and mentorship to billing team members
