We're seeking a Specialty Medical Billing Supervisor to lead a team responsible for the billing and reimbursement of some of the most advanced cancer treatments available today. In this role, you'll provide day-to-day leadership for billing operations supporting complex oncology services such as Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), CAR-T therapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, robotic-assisted procedures, and other highly specialized treatments. You'll help ensure claims are processed accurately and efficiently, support your team’s success, and work collaboratively across departments to minimize denials and optimize reimbursement. The starting annual salary for this position is $73,755 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package. What You'll Do: As the leader of a specialized billing team, you will: Oversee daily billing operations for complex oncology and specialty services Monitor work queues, claim quality, and team productivity to ensure timely claim submission and follow-up Support staff performance, workflow management, and operational efficiency Review high-dollar and high-complexity accounts to identify reimbursement risks and resolution strategies Guide the resolution of complicated billing issues involving authorizations, medical necessity requirements, payer policies, and reimbursement disputes Lead escalations and appeals for high-value denied or underpaid claims Partner with coding, clinical, patient access, utilization review, managed care, and other operational teams to improve processes and resolve barriers Help prevent denials by ensuring billing practices align with payer requirements and regulatory guidelines Analyze trends and prepare reports on productivity, denial performance, claim quality, and operational metrics Support internal audits, compliance initiatives, and revenue integrity efforts Assist patients and payers with billing inquiries while promoting a positive customer experience Provide ongoing coaching, education, and mentorship to billing team members What You'll Bring: You may be a great fit if you: Have experience leading healthcare billing, revenue cycle, or reimbursement teams Understand hospital and professional billing processes, insurance requirements, and claims management Have experience with complex healthcare services, specialty reimbursement, oncology billing, or other high-acuity medical specialties Are skilled at resolving denials, payment variances, and reimbursement challenges Enjoy coaching and developing team members Can balance operational priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance Communicate effectively with staff, providers, payers, and organizational leaders Use data and reporting to identify trends, improve performance, and support decision-making Thrive in a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and collaboration are essential Who Will Be Successful in This Role: The ideal candidate is both a strong leader and a subject matter expert. Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or a related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services; or 2. Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or a related field and the equivalent of five (5) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services; or 3. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of seven (7) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services. NOTE: Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
