Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer for a commercial property in Arlington, VA. The role oversees the efficient operation and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, sometimes serving as the sole engineer on site and supervising staff as needed.

The candidate should have 5+ years of trades experience in commercial facilities, applicable licenses, and strong problem-solving skills to maintain building reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; apprentice or trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of related trade experience operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in commercial property.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations and maintenance of building systems.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and monitor activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks (filters, bearings, belts, lamps, fixtures).
• Coordinate with outside contractors and technicians.
