Job summary

Capital Group is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer – Observability to design, build, and operate observability capabilities that help thousands of engineers understand health, performance, and behavior of applications and infrastructure. You will implement telemetry pipelines, automate onboarding, and deliver Observability-as-Code across metrics, logs, and traces.

The role requires deep MELT expertise, OpenTelemetry standards, and experience with Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical experience.
• 8+ years in Software/Platform Engineering, SRE, or Cloud Engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in networking, security, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Experience delivering unified observability across metrics, logs, and traces.
• Proficiency in Python or Go; reading/instrumenting Java/.NET/Node.js is a plus.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted coding and CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure-as-Code skills (Terraform/OpenTofu) and Observability-as-Code.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate observability capabilities used by thousands of engineers.
• Engineer telemetry collection, pipelines, and onboarding; deliver Observability-as-Code.
• Define golden signals, SLIs/SLOs; optimize cost and cardinality; apply AIOps.
• Coach engineering teams to raise observability maturity.
• Develop with AI, ensuring quality and security of code.
