Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior Reliability Engineer focused on observability to translate customer journeys into measurable reliability objectives.

You will design SLIs/SLOs, establish governance frameworks, and guide instrumentation, dashboards, alerts, and data-driven incident response. This role collaborates with product owners, SRE, and operations to ensure production readiness and strong service health metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Six to eight years of relevant work experience in business and risk analysis, IT Service Management, production support, product/project management, or application development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition, documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement of Observability across Critical Customer Journeys.
• Design, implement, and govern SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, and reliability metrics for enterprise applications and services.
• Establish and maintain Observability Governance Frameworks for Dashboards, Alerts, Synthetic Monitoring, Telemetry Standards, and lifecycle management of observability assets.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable Observability Architectures, including Instrumentation Standards and Monitoring Strategies.
• Partner with Product Owners, Application Engineering, SRE, and Operations Teams to ensure production-ready instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain executive and operational Service Health Dashboards showing Availability, Latency, Customer Impact, and SLO Compliance.
• Provide senior guidance on Distributed Tracing, Logging, Metrics Collection, Synthetic Testing, APM, RUM, Monitoring Design Patterns, and Alert Governance Best Practices.
