Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an Observability Engineer to lead strategy across critical customer journeys, defining SLIs/SLOs and building scalable monitoring architectures. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to ensure production readiness and reliable services.

You will mentor teams on tracing, logging, metrics, and alert governance, leveraging tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, and Grafana to improve incident response and reduce alert fatigue.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Observability Eng, SRE, or Reliability Eng.
• Strong knowledge of SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets.
• Hands-on experience with APM, RUM, synthetics, monitoring, logging, tracing, and telemetry.
• Familiarity with dashboards, alerts, and runbooks.
• Experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes.
• Ability to drive reliability improvements via data and RCA.

Responsibilities

• Lead Observability Strategy across critical customer journeys and align monitoring with business outcomes.
• Define, implement, and govern SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Design scalable Observability Architectures and alerting models.
• Establish governance for dashboards, telemetry standards, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, SRE, and Operations for production readiness.
