Job summary

Bladen County is seeking an Information and Assistance Specialist to oversee nutritional and educational services for Congregate and Home Delivered programs, and to provide information and guidance to older adults and their families in community-based social programs.

The role serves as a liaison between seniors, families and public programs, conducting client interviews, assessing needs, coordinating services, maintaining records, supervising staff, and promoting program participation.

Qualifications

• Interviewing techniques, case management, and some administrative skills.
• Knowledge of program goals, objectives and procedures.
• Ability to build positive relationships with older adults/families.
• Ability to coordinate with other social program agencies.
• Computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nutritional and educational services for Congregate and Home Delivered programs.
• Provide information, guidance and assistance to older adults and their families in community-based social programs.
• Serve as liaison between older adults/families and community social programs.
• Conduct interviews with qualifying clients to assess needs and resources.
• Develop individual needs criteria based on initial assessment and interview.
• Coordinate between clients’ needs and available social programs.
• Prepare and record pertinent records for services received.
• Implement follow-up systems to ensure client satisfaction.
• Publicize programs to maximize reach.
• Act as spokesperson when coordinating programs offered.
• Conduct in-home visits to gather information.
• Maintain current resource database for easy access.
• Train in various Senior Center operations; assist as needed.
• Supervise staff and volunteers; assign and review work.
