Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Mechanical Engineer for a hybrid role based in Peachtree Corners, GA, requiring in-office work 3 days a week. You will apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering knowledge to sizing, optimization, and system design.

Qualifications include a BS/MS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 3+ years in the power industry, with strong report writing and MS Office skills. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or General Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 3+ years of experience in the power industry
• Preparation of calculations and reports, and excellent technical report writing skills
• Knowledge of practical application of mechanical engineering and technology
• Strong interest in numerical computations and problem solving
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations, evaluations, and technical reports to support client recommendations and reviews
• Conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection in response to project needs
• Support project teams with other Mechanical Engineers, involved in system engineering, including design, modification, and analysis of power plant mechanical systems
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for meetings and field verification of designs
• Collaborate with the team to apply engineering principles to project design and problem solving
