Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior mechanical engineer for the Nuclear Power Group in Peachtree Corners, GA, on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work three days a week. The role focuses on licensing basis development, uprate evaluations, and consulting on major nuclear power plant projects.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with 10+ years in the nuclear sector, strong thermodynamics/heat transfer expertise, and proven ability to prepare calculations and reports

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with focus on thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of heat balance, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and related systems.
• Excellent technical report writing and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Perform calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.
• Prepare task reports and equipment evaluations for client reviews.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff on power plant engineering tasks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
