Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is hiring in the United States for a nuclear power plant systems design role with a hybrid work arrangement (three days in the office, two remote). You will prepare or review mechanical drawings, engineering analyses, specifications, and procurement documents for nuclear plant systems, and participate in vendor evaluations and modification studies.

The position requires an ABET-accredited degree in mechanical or chemical engineering and at least 7 years in the power industry,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfers.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
• PE license is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants.
• Prepare or review functional mechanical drawings and drawings for nuclear plant systems.
• Perform engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems.
• Develop technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
• Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
• Study and evaluate options for modifications to operating nuclear power plants.
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes.
• Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the client and make presentations related to engineering tasks and status.
• Lead engineering project teams.
