Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an on-site field support engineer for the Surry Nuclear Power Plant. You will join a multi-discipline team addressing instrumentation and controls improvements and support design reviews with clients and vendors.

You will prepare specs for I&C equipment, perform engineering calculations, and engage in training to expand your expertise while occasionally traveling to project sites and vendor offices.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with strong academic background in analog and digital control systems, systems engineering, mechatronics, or robotics is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering for power plant control systems.
• Coursework in mechatronics is desired, but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on a multi-discipline engineering team for nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls projects.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering and control theory to improve plant functionality.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment and perform related engineering calculations.
• Participate in mentoring, technical sessions, and on-the-job training to grow engineering expertise.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site coordination.
