Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design and modify electrical systems for nuclear power plants. The role involves preparing design packages, performing complex calculations, and coordinating with disciplines, clients, and vendors.

A strong background in MV/LV distribution and protective relays is essential. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years’ experience designing electrical engineering systems in industrial projects, with nuclear focus.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and preparing design packages, specs and calculations.
• Experience with low/medium voltage distribution, transformers, generators, relays, etc.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design change packages to install/upgrade plant equipment for reliability.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations: short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting and relays.
• Prepare equipment procurement specs and support vendor questions.
• Participate in bid reviews and track questions/responses.
• Prepare scoping documents for conceptual designs and constructability reviews.
• Interface with multi-discipline project teams and clients; coordinate site walks and travel for reviews.
