Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Reston, VA to lead multi-discipline electrical engineering projects for nuclear power plants. You will drive scope definition, deliverables, and client coordination, supervising design change packages, AC/DC studies, and equipment specifications.

Strong leadership and communication are essential. Role requires extensive experience with LV/MV distribution, project controls, and liaising with clients on complex modifications.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 20+ years of experience in design of electrical engineering systems for power plants.
• Experience selecting equipment and preparing design change packages, calculations and specifications.
• Experience as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
• Electrical system design experience incl. low/medium voltage distribution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Detail-oriented, able to obtain nuclear access badge.
• PE licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts by group members to ensure completion of electrical engineering deliverables within scope, budget, and client expectations.
• Initiate and convey scope of work to group members; define deliverables (calcs, specs, drawings, design changes).
• Review status and track progress; conduct routine status meetings and submit progress reports.
• Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
• Provide technical oversight for electrical engineering activities including design change packages, calculations, equipment specs, and vendor bid reviews.
• Interface with the client to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction; mentor the group and identify opportunities for follow-on work.
