Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Reston, VA seeks an experienced electrical engineering leader to guide a multi‑discipline group on complex projects for nuclear power plants. You will oversee design packages, calculations, and equipment selections, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.

You will mentor staff, develop proposal scope, and coordinate with clients and other disciplines to deliver reliable solutions and long‑term plant reliability.

Qualifications

• BSEE degree from ABET-accredited program (essential).
• 10 years of experience in electrical design for nuclear power plants.
• 3 years leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and preparing design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support/lead engineering role.
• Electrical system design experience including low and medium voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Excellent written and verbal communication to convey information to project team and client.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
• PE licensure is preferred e.

Responsibilities

• Lead group efforts to deliver electrical engineering deliverables meeting technical, quality, budget, and project controls expectations.
• Define scope, deliverables, and track progress; communicate with client.
• Coordinate multi‑discipline interface and coordination.
• Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear plants.
• Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear plants.
• Provide technical oversight for design change packages, calculations, and equipment specs.
• Interface with client to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.
• Mentor and guide group development.
