Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer IV to independently perform analyses, calculations, and design activities for commercial nuclear power facilities. Requires structural engineering expertise, nuclear plant experience, and compliance with industry standards in a contract-to-hire role.

Remote flexibility is available based on experience; mid-level candidates may work from Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC. Travel about one week per month may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with structural emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil and structural analyses and design activities supporting nuclear power plant modifications.
• Develop engineering calculations, change packages, evaluations, specifications, and documentation.
• Apply principles of structural steel and reinforced concrete design, seismic analysis, and FE modeling.
• Evaluate plant conditions and propose engineering solutions to enhance safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Support design criteria, engineering recommendations, and project scopes of work.
• Prepare and review work products per QA requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
• Conduct plant walkdowns and field evaluations to support design activities.
