Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Brooklyn, NY is looking for a Payroll Manager to oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and grant‑funded staff, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strict compliance with all applicable wage and tax laws.

You will partner with HR and Finance, maintain payroll calendars, handle tax filings and year‑end reporting, and drive improvements to payroll controls and data integrity across a multi‑site nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3-5 years payroll administration experience, nonprofit/multi-site preferred.
• Experience managing payroll with multiple funding sources or grants preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage/hour requirements.
• Proficiency with UKG Ready.
• Bookkeeping experience is a plus.
• High level of accuracy, confidentiality and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and grant-funded employees.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule in compliance with laws and policies.
• Review payroll registers, tax filings, and wage payments before submission.
• Maintain payroll calendars, pay periods, deadlines, and year-end processing.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, W‑2s, 1099s, and other reports.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure onboarding, offboarding, and status changes.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with general ledger postings.
