Job summary

Job Juncture is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee end‑to‑end payroll for salaried, hourly, and grant‑funded staff in a complex nonprofit setting in New York. You will ensure timely, accurate payroll while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

You will collaborate with HR and Finance, review tax filings, and coordinate with auditors, driving improvements in internal controls and payroll processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 3–5 years of payroll administration experience in nonprofit or multi-site settings preferred.
• Experience managing payroll for employees with multiple funding sources or grants preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements.
• Proficiency with payroll systems, preferably UKG Ready.
• High accuracy, confidentiality, and detail orientation; strong MS Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and grant‑funded employees.
• Ensure payroll is accurate and on schedule in compliance with laws and policies.
• Review and approve payroll registers, tax filings, and wage payments.
• Maintain payroll calendars, including year‑end processing.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, W‑2s, 1099s, and other reports.
• Respond to payroll audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure onboarding, offboarding, and status changes are accurate.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with general ledger postings.
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing, and process improvements.
• Serve as a point of contact for payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
