Job summary

Apploi in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and grant-funded employees. You will ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance while partnering with HR and Finance to maintain payroll integrity in a nonprofit environment.

The role requires 3-5 years of payroll experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and strong knowledge of wage and hour laws. On-site/hybrid work is available with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• 3-5 years payroll administration experience, nonprofit or multi-site preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements.
• Experience with UKG Ready payroll system.
• Bookkeeping experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule in compliance with all laws and policies.
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and grant-funded employees.
• Review and approve payroll registers, tax filings, and wage payments.
• Maintain payroll calendars, deadlines, and year-end processing.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, W-2s, 1099s, and other reports.
• Respond to payroll audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Monitor changes in payroll regulations and implement updates.
• Maintain payroll systems and employee records with confidentiality.
