Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer in Reston, Virginia to design, test, and deploy computer data communications systems, and to plan upgrades while aligning hardware and software solutions through network modeling.

The role requires documenting designs, supporting operations, implementing secure designs per DISA STIGs, obtaining Authority to Operate for new devices, and guiding a team of network specialists to ensure reliable, scalable networks.

Qualifications

• Experience in network engineering, Tier III or higher operations and/or design.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper hardware.
• Hands-on with OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
• Hands-on with VLANs, 802.1q, and port-channels switching.
• Ability to document designs with diagrams and BOMs and maintain supporting docs.

Responsibilities

• Interpret requirements and apply standard design approaches for service delivery.
• Document designs with diagrams, BOMs, cabling sheets, configurations, and other documents.
• Schedule maintenance windows for migrations with minimal data impact.
• Provide technical support to Operations engineers and technicians.
• Develop secure network designs aligning with DISA STIGs and enterprise policies.
• Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices/software.
• Supervise (not manage) other network specialists.
• Improve design processes, products, and systems for efficiency.
• Act as escalation point for enterprise outages.
